The New Zealand Government have announced that from the 21st November 2016, South African Passport holders wishing to visit New Zealand will require a Visitor Visa.
Up to now, visitors from South Africa have not needed to apply for a visa before travelling to New Zealand, and were granted a Visitor Visa on arrival. This means that all South African passport holders will need to obtain a visa before travelling to New Zealand from November onward.
The changes come as a result of an increase in the number of ineligible passengers, who do not meet New Zealand entry instructions, New Zealand has received. The INZ department have reported that the increase has put pressure on resources, so the decision was made to suspend the visa waiver status and reinstate the visitor visa requirements for South African passport holders.
