Head of Department, Maths - Auckland, NZ

Aorere College, a co-educational, state secondary school located in South Auckland, is looking for an experienced, passionate educator to lead the Mathematics department, with teaching responsibilities from Junior to Senior levels. The right candidate requires mathematics teaching experience. This permanent role is set for a Term 1, January 2018 start.

You will enjoy working in a well-resourced Mathematics department of fourteen staff. You will have pleasure in teaching in modern facilities with a strong support network behind you.

Mathematics is well liked by the students at Aorere College.  Students are excelling in this area and as Head of Department you will be influential in further increasing this positive momentum.

The general aims of mathematics education at Aorere College include:

  • Developing skills to aid in everyday use of mathematics in real life situations
  • To encourage students to engage in the art of mathematics and to look forward to the sense of achievement it brings
  • To develop skills students will require once in the work force
  • To encourage the more able students to develop a top level working knowledge of mathematics to take with them

Aorere College’s co-educational, multi-cultural context creates a rich learning environment for its 1500 students from Year 9 – Year 13 (Age 13 – 18).
