New Zealand Skills in Demand are seeking qualified Senior Manager Mechanical Engineer for roles in Christchurch.
Their client is seeking a proven leader in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering, interested in leading a team that is developing next generation solar inverter technology for residential and commercial use.
The Senior Manager will lead a team of 10-15 people tasked with significant new product development as well as the sustaining of existing products and cost reduction efforts. The products are technically challenging and highly innovative. They must be designed for very low cost, high volume and high reliability requirements in a harsh outdoor environment.
The Senior Manager will be accountable for mechanical and packaging product development as well as schedule and resource management. They must be capable of supplementing the team with high quality talent, enforcing the development process, and maximizing the department output with the given resources. Innovation is critical, whether in the product or in the development process. The position will report to the Director of Engineering (NZ), and will work closely with Firmware, Hardware, and ASIC managers.
What you will need:
5+ years Mechanical Engineering leadership experience at management level.
10+ years mechanical design experience.
Demonstrated experience in creation of innovative designs – patents a plus.
Experience designing products for use in harsh environmental conditions.
Experience working directly with standards bodies including UL, VDE, and other International equivalents to gain product certifications.
Demonstrated experience in successful cost reduction projects.
Ability to work collaboratively with the technical leader
Experience in design for high volume products with design for automation.
Experience working with contract manufacturing model.
Electrical Engineering knowledge a huge plus.
