In the September 2018 quarter, New Zealand job advertisements rose by 1.9 per cent, the same as the June 2018 quarter.
Construction and engineering, business services and the health sector showed the strongest increase across most of the regions, whilst the strongest percentage increase in online advertising over the quarter came from professional occupations, machinery operators and driver groups.
Over the year, the increase was contributed to mainly by highly skilled and unskilled jobs, with semi-skilled jobs continuing to show the weakest increase, especially in the sales occupation group.
Provincial New Zealand leads the increase in job advertisements, and Auckland and Wellington were also the main contributors, while Canterbury’s fell.
