Trading / Operating Officer/Manager in Aluminium Fabrication Industry - NZ

Our partners New Zealand Skills in Demand are urgently looking for a Trading / Operating Officer/Manager for a client in the Aluminium Industry, in Waikato and the surrounding area.

Core skills and requirements to fulfil this role:

  • To be fully aware of the Companies Health and Safety policies, as they relate to your role and to embrace and encourage a Healthy and Safe culture for all staff and visitors to the premises.

  • To ensure that service excellence is maintained at the branch, by producing high - quality products on time, and growing the business generally.

  • Must be a competent tradesman and able to train others.

  • Must be committed to continuous improvement to ensure that quality and service delivery are both achieved in full, and on time.

  • To read drawings and plans and be able to produce factory work sheets and fabricate products as per drawings.

  • Most customer products require engineered drawings these days ( OH&S impact ) so you must either ensure the customer provides such confirmation or have independent certification where appropriate. This is non-negotiable.

  • May from time to time be required to provide Producer Statements, documentation or engineered drawings.

  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the aluminium/metal sector.

  • Must commit to completing quotes and producing products within the company guidelines.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers.

  • Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications, knowledge of CAD and Revit, and other software programs that may from time to time be introduced.

  • The role will require a current driver’s licence.

  • Understanding of OHS requirements.

  • Has the ability to assimilate technical information and communicate with other technical staff and industry professionals.

  • Maintains a good standard of health, Consent to pre-employment medical and drug check.

  • Must be fit to perform expected work tasks including regular heavy lifting.

 

Fabricated Products incorporates the following but is not limited to:

  • Fences and Gates

  • Flashings

  • Walkways

  • Platforms

  • Balustrades

  • Ladders

  • Scaffolding

  • Louvres & Screens ( Privacy or Industrial)

  • Custom manufactured products to suit specific needs

  • Any other products introduced to enhance the sales potential of the division

Day to day operational requirements to fulfil this role:

  • Able or trained to ensure for all quotations, the information is captured and responded to in accordance with company guidelines.

  • Can quantify products, labour, logistics and consumables in preparation of quotations.

  • Manufacture – cost effective / on time / to specification.

  • Development & upkeep of all product lines included within the fabricated products portfolio where applicable.

  • A self-disciplined and confident individual.

  • At ease with architects, project managers, quantity surveyors and builders on-site..

  • Develop an enduring personal relationship of service excellence with key customers.

  • At ease with suppliers mainly in the powder-coating arena where exposure to non-conformance suppliers could destabilise any progress.

  • Calculate for and sub-contract out installations where required.

  • Allow for logistical costs in all calculations.

  • Allow for accurate labour costs in all calculations.

  • Allow for accurate materials costs in all calculations.
