Key responsibilities:

  • Implement project planning, management and quality control on site to meet requirements as defined by the Project Manager

  • Ensure construction programme, critical paths and key target dates are met

  • Schedule and prioritise construction sequences and maintain a two-week rolling program

  • Order materials required on site

  • Review drawings and documentation and advise Project Manager of any missing information

  • General admin such as controlling timesheets, purchase orders and inwards goods 

  • Liaise with the Project Manager regarding all changes in design, scope and projects

  • Monitor and enforce Health and Safety on site

  • Ensure all rental equipment is accounted for along with all other tools and equipment

  • Be responsible for site security and minimising theft and vandalism on site

  • Liaise with relevant head office staff and village management as required

About you:

  • Previous experience on large commercial and residential projects in a Foreman capacity 

  • Hold relevant qualifications

  • Fantastic communication skills

  • Strong technical ability and attention to detail

  • Leadership skills and the ability to create an engaged team atmosphere

For the right candidate, salary would be between $36 - $40 per hour.

Senior Analog Design Engineer

Their client is currently utilising a proprietary Power Line Communication (PLC) system and is expanding that capability to support international compliance standards and power line topologies integrating into commercial, residential, smart grid and micro-grid networks.

The Role:

You will be responsible for designing, evaluating, integrating, testing and deploying these technologies. In addition, you will be required to assess new international compliance standards and topologies and their impact on the existing PLC solution. The successful candidate will be responsible for recommending necessary design changes and driving those changes through development and deployment.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor/Master of Engineering with a minimum of 8 years analog design experience

  • Proven analog hardware design skills and experience.

  • Experience in delivering high volume, low cost hardware from concept through validation. The market they participate in is extremely competitive with respect to margins, so the ability to deliver low cost solutions is imperative.

  • The ability to independently assess the impact of international compliance standards and power line topologies on the existing PLC solution (at system level) and recommend and drive any modifications necessary to facilitate a major volume deployment.

  • Experience with communications standards.

  • Experience in the design of modem related products and circuitry.

  • Experience with EMC requirements, design criteria and compliance.

  • Capable of taking a system level view of the PLC communication link. Must have the ability and experience to understand the system level impact of topology changes and/or design decisions on the mixed signal and baseband DSP PHY.

  • Strong written and oral communication and teamwork skills are required

  • Familiarity with lab equipment and hands-on experience with debugging of real-world communication problems.

  • Familiarity with engineering design tools such as Schematic Capture (OrCAD), SPICE, PCB Layout (Cadence Allegro or PADS), and Signal Integrity (Allegro PCB SI).

 

Other Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in any of xDSL, HomePNA, HomePlug, ZigBee, etc.

  • RF design experience including proficiency in RF layout and connectivity techniques with comprehensive knowledge of the use of RF test equipment required for hardware design validation

The Senior Manager will be accountable for mechanical and packaging product development as well as schedule and resource management.  They must be capable of supplementing the team with high quality talent, enforcing the development process, and maximizing the department output with the given resources.  Innovation is critical, whether in the product or in the development process.  The position will report to the Director of Engineering (NZ), and will work closely with Firmware, Hardware, and ASIC managers.

What you will need:

  • 5+ years Mechanical Engineering leadership experience at management level.

  • 10+ years mechanical design experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in creation of innovative designs – patents a plus.

  • Experience designing products for use in harsh environmental conditions.

  • Experience working directly with standards bodies including UL, VDE, and other International equivalents to gain product certifications.

  • Demonstrated experience in successful cost reduction projects.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the technical leader

  • Experience in design for high volume products with design for automation.

  • Experience working with contract manufacturing model.

  • Develop test strategies and plans to assure their inverter firmware functions per engineering requirements and design specifications

  • Develop and execute test strategies to ensure safety and optimal functionality for their solar microinverter product to meet worldwide standards

  • Design and implement automated test systems in Python and Ruby enabling continuous integration of the firmware development team

  • Collaborate with the hardware and firmware engineers to assure firmware is designed for test

  • Confer with other Quality Assurance teams, Development and Product Management to participate in project planning and ensure the effective testing of their products within design constraints

  • Use test automation, power meters, oscilloscopes, DC supplies and other lab test equipment to ensure complete functional, efficiency, and safety testing coverage for their  solar microinverters’ hardware and firmware.

  • Coach and train new members of technical staff on their test equipment, procedures, and automation software

 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor/Master’s Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar (non-academic) role as an embedded software or firmware test/QA engineer

  • Experience through the various stages of embedded software or firmware design, implementation, test, deployment, and maintenance

  • In depth knowledge of relevant worldwide standards such as IEEE 1547, 1741SA, CA Rule 21, HECO SRD 1.1, AS/NZS 4777.2:2015, SAND2013-9875, G83/2 regulations of UK and Sandia standard

  • Knowledgeable in worldwide electrical advanced grid functions and faults conditions

The Role:

They are seeking a Power Electronics Engineer specializing in circuit design to develop state of the art Solar Microinverters. The ideal candidate should be a Power Electronics Engineer wanting to apply his or her engineering skills to develop low cost, high performance circuits for a broad range of applications.

Specifically, candidates need to have an understanding and working experience developing new products, from marketing requirements, through design, manufacturing and support through the product life cycle. Typical duties will include writing engineering requirements, test plans, designing circuits, schematic capture, simulation, developing test plans, and most importantly, validating the design in the lab and in the field. You will interact with cross-functional teams such as; PCB Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Product Verification teams, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Program Management. A strong understanding of the product life cycle is a definite plus.

  • Develop products from concept, through design, manufacturing and support to end of life

  • Design, Document, and Validate designs

  • Work with and mentor less senior members of the development team

  • Work with compliance groups to ensure successful completion of certification process

  • Write Engineering Requirements, Test Plans, Validation Reports

  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering required; Masters or PhD Preferred

  • 10+ years work experience (non-academic) working with power supply design

  • Solid education and experience in power supply architectures; Flyback, Resonant, ZVS, Synchronous, Bridging, etc.

  • Solid understanding of the theory and application of magnetics to inductors and transformers to achieve maximum efficiency

  • Design knowledge with FETs, MOSFETs, SCRs, TRIACs, IGBTs, Bipolar Transistors, TVS, etc.

  • Solid foundation in PCB layout, component placement and routing

  • Able to model and simulate complex circuits

  • Experience merging analog and digital designs

  • Familiarity with UL-1741, EN61000, IEEE1547

The Role:

This position is within the Software Engineering group, where you will lead a small team to develop fully functional prototypes to demonstrate new advanced operation and control for autonomous grid connection, management and regulation.

  • Architecting developing and implementing embedded software for real time operation and control.

  • Simulating new algorithms for autonomous micro grid power flow management

  • Validate algorithms using system simulation tools

  • Working with hardware engineers to test and troubleshoot prototype designs.

  • Developing productivity through mentoring, training and process improvement.

 

What you will need:

  • BE/BSc required, ME/MSc is desirable

  • 2+ years’ experience in a development leadership role.

  • Expertise in C development and Assembly for real time applications.

  • Expertise in embedded software control.

  • Experience with interrupt driven designs and real-time processing.

  • Able to understand and implement digital signal processing (DSP) concepts in a microprocessor environment.

  • Familiar with evaluating CPU versus hardware processing requirements and tradeoffs for cost effective designs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot firmware related issues within complex systems.

  • Ability to unit test code and hardware both with and without external test equipment such as oscilloscope, power meter, etc.

  • Familiarity with software development processes. E.g. Agile, Structured, Object Oriented, etc.

  • Familiarity with development tools such as GCC, GDB, Eclipse, GNU Make, etc.

  • Familiarity with software code management tools such as GIT, Mercurial, etc.

  • Able to carry a design task from concept to implementation.

  • Ability to document engineering requirements, document solutions, and test new firmware designs.

  • Experience with power electronic systems would be an advantage.

  • Experience with solar inverters would be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with Python for test automation would be an advantage.

  • Experience with 32-bit ARM processors and 8-bit 8051processors would be an advantage.

  • Experience with UL1741, IEEE1547 and other solar related standards would be a definite advantage.
