Job Description: To carry out the role of environmental scientist working within our surface water and environmental management service areas. Specifically, the role is to undertake professional work primarily in surface water quantity and quality assessments, and environmental management.
The role includes the following duties:
Water and environmental assessments - including catchment management plans, water quality management, environmental monitoring, waterway remediation design.
Undertaking technical work and reporting
Scoping, budgeting and supervision of field investigations
Preparation of Health and Safety documentation for technical works (confined space, traffic management)
Establishing and controlling project budgets and preparing invoices.
Managing project deliverables by co-ordinating work outputs by yourself, other staff and subcontractors.
Liaising and meeting with clients, regulators and stakeholders
Training and mentoring junior staff in technical matters and contributing to developing technical expertise within the company.
Contributing to technical expertise in the company
Developing new business in earthworks, environmental management and surface water
Building research profile through collaborative work with other agencies.
The technical aspects of your role include providing input and solutions to a wide range of environmental projects including the following activities:
Water quality assessment and device design.
Interpretation of hydrological and environmental data.
Preparation and review of technical reports.
Statistical and data analysis, conceptual model development and assessment against guidelines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Project negotiation and client liaison skills.
Ability to successfully manage multiple projects to achieve deadlines and results.
Self-starter with a professional approach to work.
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in environmental science or engineering and at least 5 years’ experience in environmental science.
A CV is a must. You must also be able to provide written references and an oral reference will be taken as part of the process.
