Immigration New Zealand (INZ) have introduced a new Entrepreneur Plus immigration category - which goes live on November 30 2009. This new business visa category will provide a faster track to residence for migrants and is already luring a number of rich foreigners to emigrate to New Zealand. Entrepreneurial migrants who create at least three fulltime jobs and invest $500,000 in their business will be offered a fast track to residency.
Around 12,000 individuals have visited the INZ scheme's website, with the United States and Great Britain being among the countries with the biggest number of would-be applicants.
Entrepreneur Plus Visa Requirements
To be eligible for the Entrepreneur Plus Visa you must have:
- Established a business in New Zealand under the Long Term Business Visa (LTBV):
- Been self-employed in your business:
- Transferred at least NZ$0.5 million through the banking system to New Zealand:
- Invested at least NZ$0.5 million in your business:
- Created a minimum of three new full-time jobs for New Zealand citizens or residents (this is in addition to existing staff if you purchase a business):
- A minimum English language ability of IELTS 4: AND
- Met health and character requirements.
Further requirements:
The business for which you were granted the LTBV to establish must be the same business for which you apply for the Entrepreneur Plus Visa, unless you have previously been given consent to amend your original business plan. If your established business is different to your proposal in your business plan, your application cannot be approved under the Entrepreneur Plus Category
