The restrictions on the New Zealand investor visa policy have recently been loosened, to attract investors to New Zealand. Changes to the new Migrant Investor Policy were announced on the 27 July by Immigration Minister, Jonathon Coleman.
The number of investor visa categories have been decreased from three to two, and requirements are now less onerous. Please see below the new investor visa categories:
Investor Plus (Investor 1 Category):
- Investor migrants must bring investment capital of $10m into the country for three years;
- There is no business previous experience requirement;
- There is no settlement funds requirement;
- There is no maximum age requirement;
- There is no English language requirement;
- Minimum time spent in New Zealand must be 73 days in NZ in each of the last two years of the three-year investment period; and,
- All applicants must satisfy health and character requirements.
Investor (Investor 2 Category):
- Investor migrants will must bring in $1.5m of capital for four years;
- Minimum of three years business experience required;
- Settlement funds of $1 million required (transfer not required);
- The maximum age limit is 65;
- English Language requirement;
- Minimum time spent in New Zealand 146 days in NZ in each of the last three years of the four-year investment period; and,
- All applicants must satisfy health and character requirements.
