Diesel Mechanic Positions New Zealand

New Zealand Skills in Demand are recruiting on behalf of clients who are seeking diesel technicians for both temporary and permanent roles in New Zealand.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • trade certificate / national certificate in Automotive Heavy Engineering level 4 or above

  • 3-5 years’ experience

  • experience attending on-site breakdowns and working in workshop would be ideal.

  • experience with long haul/fleet/truck/bus experience with “big brand” vehicles such as Volvo, Scania, MAN, Cummins and Mercedes, also heavy plant

  • welding experience

The role may include:

  • tune-up’s and replacing engines

  • servicing, installing and repairing diesel engines

  • performing diagnostics and fault finding and providing a solution

  • maintaining truck running gear, brakes, suspension, lubes etc

  • developing, implementing and monitoring the scheduled servicing, repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment

  • repairing heavy machinery including caterpillar machinery

  • meeting legislative and other requirements applicable to heavy vehicle maintenance

Salary guide: approx. $26-$35 per hour. Please also factor the lower cost of living that New Zealand affords. Initial salaries will be reviewed based on performance.
